Recovering from a vasectomy doesn’t have to be a hassle. At the Weekend Vasectomy Clinic, we’ve designed a recovery experience that prioritizes your comfort, privacy, and convenience.

Our approach starts with expert care during the procedure and extends to the thoughtful recovery essentials we provide. We include compression shorts, ice packs, and long-lasting anesthetic (up to 72-hours) to help you heal quickly and confidently. Our goal is to ensure you can rest, recover, and get back to your life with ease.

you are not considered sterile until you have one negative semen analysis

Send in your first semen sample at eight weeks post-procedure, and after 25-30 ejaculations.

Post-procedure Care

Ice

Apply an ice pack to the vasectomy site for 20 minutes, then remove for 40 minutes. Repeat this cycle as often as needed. Always wrap the ice pack in a towel or use our custom ice pack compression shorts to protect your skin.

Pain/swelling

It’s normal to have some swelling and discomfort. You may also see some minimal bruising or bleeding. If your pain or swelling becomes moderate to severe, please call us immediately at 844.764.7733.

Recovery Timeline

day 1

The Weekend

Rest and take it easy. Avoid any strenuous physical activity, including lifting anything over 10 lbs., for at least 72 hours. You can take Tylenol as needed for the first 24–48 hours, but do not take ibuprofen or aspirin during this time. Remember to use our comfort products to help with your recovery.

Days 2+

Back to Work

You can return to work on Monday, but continue to limit your physical activity and avoid heavy lifting.

+8 weeks

Sterility Analysis

ou are not sterile until you have a confirmed negative semen analysis. You can provide your first semen sample at least 8 weeks after your procedure, and after you have had 25–30 ejaculations.

+9-10 weeks

Confirmation

Your sterility results will be available 1–2 weeks after your semen sample is received. Depending on the results, you may need to provide additional samples.

Key Reminders

  • Physical Activity: No vigorous activity or lifting anything over 10 lbs. for at least 72 hours.
  • Medication: Take Tylenol as needed for the first 24–48 hours. Do not take ibuprofen or aspirin for at least 48 hours.

Sexual Activity

You can resume sexual activity when you feel comfortable, but you must use a secondary form of birth control until your sterility is confirmed by a negative semen analysis at eight weeks after your procedure and 25-30 ejaculations.
